Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, issued a message on the occasion of the 571st anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul.
In his message, Speaker Kurtulmuş emphasized the significance of the Conquest of Istanbul in world history. Kurtulmuş highlighted, “This great victory has been a source of pride both for the Turkish nation and the Islamic world.” Noting that the Conquest of Istanbul was not merely a military success, he added, “This victory also symbolizes the deep-rooted values of our civilization and our commitment to peace.”
Kurtulmuş pointed out that Istanbul has been a city hosting many civilizations throughout history, stating, “This city has contributed cultural diversity and tolerance to the world heritage.” He further emphasized that the Conquest of Istanbul continues to inspire unity and solidarity today.
In his message, Kurtulmuş also paid tribute to the ancestors who participated in the conquest, saying, “We must nurture our young generations with the values of this cultural heritage with the same spirit and belief in the coming period.”
