President Erdoğan Stresses Urgency in Addressing Stray Dogs Issue
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the need for a swift resolution to the issue of stray dogs. Erdoğan noted that a significant portion of society desires the streets to be made safe for everyone, especially children.
“We cannot remain indifferent to society’s demands regarding stray dogs,” Erdoğan stated, emphasizing their aim to encourage the adoption of stray dogs through legislative amendments. He underscored that this would be the primary goal of the forthcoming changes.
Sharing details about the ongoing preparations for the legal proposal, Erdoğan announced the establishment of new shelters in places lacking such facilities. He mentioned that stray animals would be housed in these shelters and adoption campaigns would be organized.
Adopted animals will be neutered, vaccinated, and fitted with microchips before being handed over to their new owners, Erdoğan explained. “We want all animals taken into shelters to be adopted,” he stated.
President Erdoğan expressed his belief that animal lovers would take on more responsibility by adopting dogs from shelters during this process. He urged municipalities to fulfill their legal duties effectively to contribute positively to the process. “If we can achieve this, we believe there will be no need for the next step,” he remarked.
President Erdoğan reiterated their aim to address this crucial issue in line with the nation’s desires and expectations, aiming for the broadest possible consensus.
