President Erdoğan Addresses Key Issues in Meeting with Azerbaijani President Aliyev

Ankara, Turkey – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey held a significant meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. The leaders discussed a range of crucial topics, including bilateral relations, the situation in Gaza, reconstruction efforts in liberated Azerbaijani territories, and both regional and global issues.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s close monitoring of the withdrawal process of the Russian Peacekeeping Forces from Karabakh and lauded Azerbaijan’s reconstruction activities in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation. Erdoğan underscored the threats posed by Israeli actions in Gaza, stating that these actions jeopardize not only regional but also global security. He highlighted the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital for a lasting solution and called upon the international community to exert pressure on Israel.

President Erdoğan also expressed satisfaction with the establishment of an Interparliamentary Friendship Group with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Azerbaijani National Assembly. He noted that the invitation of TRNC President Ersin Tatar to the Turkic Council Summit in Shusha this July strengthens the Cyprus cause. Additionally, Erdoğan thanked Aliyev for inviting Turkey to the Climate Summit to be held in Azerbaijan and assured every support from Turkey to this process. He mentioned that significant events would be organized within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, led by Emine Erdoğan.
