Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi (CHP) General President Özgür Özel paid tribute to one of the prominent figures in Turkish literature, poet Nazım Hikmet. In his statement, Özel emphasized the seriousness with which Nazım Hikmet spoke about art and life. He highlighted that the famous poet was so committed to life that he would plant an olive tree even at the age of 70. Özel also recalled Nazım Hikmet’s love for the lands of Anatolia and his wish to be buried in a village cemetery.

Özel stated, “I respectfully remember the master poet of our country, Nazım Hikmet, who cherished life so deeply that he would plant an olive tree at 70, and who loved these lands so much that he wished to be buried in a village cemetery in Anatolia.”
