CHP Women’s Branch President Criticizes Government’s Attempts to Render Law 6284 Ineffective
Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi (CHP) Women’s Branch President Aylin Nazlıaka has voiced strong opposition to the single-man government’s attempts to neutralize Law 6284. Speaking out in Iğdır, Nazlıaka highlighted the dire situation of Leyla Akay, who has been subjected to systematic abuse by her husband Sinan Akay.
Nazlıaka pointed out the death threats and continuous violence inflicted by Sinan Akay, stating, “With evidence and complaint files right in front of you, what are you waiting for to protect Leyla?”
She went on to describe how the perpetrator confidently said, “I stabbed you before, what did they do? I have strong backing,” emphasizing that this assurance stems solely from the current policies. Nazlıaka condemned the situation where women are forced to live in constant fear of death, declaring that this system is unacceptable to them.
The CHP Women’s Branch President called for the prompt implementation of legal regulations to ensure the protection of women’s right to live.
