Turkish Navy’s TCG Alemdar Visits Lisbon Port for Joint Exercises and Diplomatic Engagements
**Exercise Participation:**
From September 25-28, 2024, the Turkish Navy ship TCG Alemdar participated in the DYNAMIC MONARCH-24 exercise held in Arendal, Norway. On its transit route, TCG Alemdar made a port visit to Lisbon, Portugal.
**Reception Held:**
On September 26, 2024, during the port visit, a reception was held aboard the ship with the participation of the Turkish Ambassador to Lisbon, Haldun Koç. The event saw the attendance of ambassadors from 11 countries, the Military Attaché of Lisbon, representatives from the Portuguese Armed Forces, and staff and families from the Turkish Embassy in Lisbon.
**Visits Between Commanders:**
On September 27, 2024, the Ship’s Commander, Navy Colonel Okan Erdem, paid a visit to Portuguese Navy Commander Vice Admiral Chaves Ferreira. On the same day, Lieutenant Commander Amaral Henriques, Commander of NRP Corte Real, returned the visit to TCG Alemdar’s commander.
These interactions are seen as significant steps to strengthen military cooperation between Turkey and Portugal.
