Turkish Minister Announces Crackdown on Social Media Provocateurs Related to Kayseri Incidents

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed today that coordinated efforts between the Department of Cyber Crimes and the Department of Security have led to the identification of 189 individuals, including 6 from abroad, responsible for provocative and disinformation-filled social media posts concerning recent incidents in Kayseri. According to Yerlikaya, 108 individuals have been apprehended in connection with these activities.

Of the apprehended individuals, 12 have been formally arrested, while 32 have been placed under judicial control. The investigations and legal processes are ongoing.

In a social media statement, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to holding those who attempt to sow discord through social media accountable, stating, “We will catch each provocateur who aims to stir up our country through social media and bring them to justice.”

The crackdown highlights the Turkish government’s proactive approach in addressing cyber-related threats and maintaining public order.
