Turkish Delegation Holds Official Talks with Norwegian Foreign Minister in Oslo

The Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee delegation met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide in Oslo as part of their official engagements. During the meeting, bilateral relations and issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, the ongoing war in Ukraine, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Cyprus issue, counter-terrorism, and migration were discussed.

A statement on behalf of the delegation highlighted Turkey’s determined, constructive, and peace-oriented efforts in these matters, which were shared with the Norwegian Foreign Minister. Eide expressed his expectation that Norway’s step towards recognizing the State of Palestine would be followed by other European countries in the coming period. He also noted that this decision was made within the frameworks of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the European Union (EU) processes.

During the discussion, Turkey’s determination regarding the solution of the Cyprus issue, particularly during the Crans-Montana process, was emphasized. It was agreed that this process had been disrupted. It was also mentioned that the approach of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is shaped around a two-state solution model in light of the concrete realities on the island.
