Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler held a video teleconference meeting with senior military officials, ministry deputies, and unit commanders at the Ministry of National Defense. During the meeting, Güler received updates on the ongoing activities of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and issued directives.

In his address, Güler emphasized the dedication and success of the TSK in counter-terrorism and other operations. He announced that the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Task Group, established with Romania and Bulgaria to counter mine threats, became operational as of July 1 and will operate under the command of the Naval Forces for six months.

Güler highlighted the increasing asymmetric risks and threats globally, which pose significant challenges to security, peace, stability, and prosperity. He underscored the importance of defense and security in this context. He noted the successes in counter-terrorism efforts, with recruitments to terrorist organizations nearly ceasing and an increase in the number of terrorists surrendering. Terrorist leaders have retreated to remote areas but will not evade the TSK’s efforts.

Addressing the situation in northern Syria, Güler stated that attempts to establish an artificial terrorist state are unacceptable and will ultimately fail. He reaffirmed Turkey’s respect for the territorial integrity of Syria and Iraq.

Güler also addressed the negative perceptions being created around Syrian refugees, asserting that any attempts to disrupt public order would be prevented by all state entities. In the context of forest fires, he commended the personnel and air vehicles for their dedicated efforts.

Emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations with friendly and allied countries, Güler noted the productivity of recent visits to Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on June 26-27. He indicated plans to continue visiting other brotherly nations in Central Asia in the near future.

With the approaching 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, Güler reiterated Turkey’s stance on supporting a two-state solution on the island and continued support for Turkish Cypriots.

Güler concluded by expressing his pride in the TSK’s determination and dedication in serving the country’s interests and wished success to all his comrades.
