Turkish and Hungarian Finance Ministers Hold Key Meeting in Budapest

The Turkish Finance Minister, Mehmet Şimşek, met with the Hungarian Finance Minister, Mihály Varga, in Budapest to discuss strengthening economic and financial cooperation.

During the meeting, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding covering public financial management and tax policies. Şimşek expressed his hopes that this agreement would be beneficial for both countries and stated that the cooperation would continue in multilateral organizations as well.

Şimşek emphasized that Hungary’s presidency of the European Council is a significant opportunity for the advancement of Turkey-EU relations. Additionally, during the talks, issues such as enhancing the High-Level Economic Dialogue Mechanism, updating the Customs Union, visa liberalization, and the resumption of activities by the European Investment Bank in all sectors in Turkey were identified as key priorities in Turkey-EU relations.
