The 24th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held under the theme “Strengthening Multilateral Dialogue for Sustainable Peace and Development”. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his satisfaction in meeting with friends at the summit.

Erdoğan highlighted that the current rule-based international system is experiencing turmoil, exacerbated by issues such as terrorism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, irregular migration, climate change, and energy and food security. He pointed out the tragic events in Gaza and Palestinian territories, which underscore the weaknesses of the international system. Erdoğan emphasized that approximately 40,000 people lost their lives in attacks in Gaza, about 90,000 Palestinians were injured, and over 16,000 children perished under the rubble.

President Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to policies that highlight the weaknesses of the current international order while aiming to create a peace zone centered on human values. He stressed Turkey’s ongoing 40-year battle against terror organizations like PKK, PYD-YPG, FETÖ, and ISIS, and vowed the continuation of this struggle.

Erdoğan mentioned Turkey’s hospitality to over 4 million displaced individuals, including those under temporary protection such as Syrian refugees, and urged the international community to act responsibly.

In the framework of the “Asia Anew Initiative,” Erdoğan voiced Turkey’s aim to strengthen relations with Asia based on mutual benefits and shared priorities. Emphasizing the development of relations with the SCO on a multilateral dialogue platform, he noted continued cooperation in areas such as security, energy, and connectivity to contribute to multilateralism in Asia.
