Turkey and TRNC Sign Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement for 2024

The 2024 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has officially come into effect following the decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Turkey’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that the agreement was signed on June 5 at the Presidential Complex with TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel. According to Yılmaz, approximately 16 billion Turkish Lira has been allocated for various projects in transport, infrastructure, tourism, industry, education, health, energy, agriculture, modern irrigation, and entrepreneurship, including funds carried over from 2023.

Yılmaz emphasized that the cooperation between Turkey and TRNC aims to bring the Turkish Cypriot community to a stronger economic and social level. He ensured that the projects outlined in the agreement will be completed without delay. “Just as the freedom and security of the Turkish Cypriots are our national cause, a productive, growing, prosperous, and financially strong TRNC is also our national issue,” Yılmaz stated.

After the agreement’s full implementation, Yılmaz expressed his wishes for it to be beneficial to both countries and regions.
