TRT Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation with Exclusive Documentary “Flag in the North: Cyprus”
TRT has announced a new documentary, “Flag in the North: Cyprus,” in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. The documentary focuses on the Turkish presence in Cyprus and the island’s history from the Ottoman era to the present day.
The documentary explores the sovereignty rights of the Turkish Cypriots and the attacks against these rights. It delves into the events before and after Turkey’s response to the EOKA terror’s occupation and genocide attempts, which culminated in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation. The film provides an in-depth look at these historical events, offering insights through documents, archival footage, witnesses, and key figures.
“Flag in the North: Cyprus” showcases the joint struggle of Nicosia and Ankara for the legitimate cause of Turkish Cypriots and examines the various phases of global politics during this period.
