In Samsun, a special drill was conducted to mark World Drowning Prevention Day on July 25. The exercise, organized by the Samsun Police Department, successfully rescued two people who had fallen into the sea as part of the drill scenario.

The Community Policing Branch of Samsun Police Department organized the World Drowning Prevention Day drill under the “Don’t Lose Precaution, Don’t Get Caught in the Current” project. In Samsun, where approximately 450 people have faced drowning risks to date, the Police Department’s Harbor Branch conducted the drill to prevent drownings, capturing the attention of onlookers.

During the drill, held in the Tütün Pier area of İlkadım district, the scenario involved two citizens falling into the sea from the Samsunum-1 vessel. Upon receiving the alert, the marine police promptly arrived at the scene and initially marked the position of the individuals in the sea with a flare. Subsequently, with four marine vessels, the police reached and rescued the individuals from the water. The marine police performed CPR and first aid on the rescued persons on the boat. The drill concluded successfully with the rescue of both individuals.
