Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Embassy in Ankara, has responded to a recent statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Stoltenberg had claimed that Ukraine’s membership in NATO is contingent upon its “victory against Russia”. Zakharova highlighted that the Alliance is aware such a victory is unlikely to happen. She emphasized that no one can ever defeat Russia and pointed out that Kiev’s long-standing efforts to join NATO are costing Ukraine dearly.
