President Erdoğan Offers Condolences on Marmara Earthquake Anniversary, Highlights Urban Transformation Projects

On the anniversary of the Marmara Earthquake, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives and emphasized that Turkey has learned to live with the reality of earthquakes. President Erdoğan highlighted that 3.3 million housing units have been constructed across the country as part of urban transformation projects, providing safe homes for nearly 20 million citizens.

Following the February 6 earthquakes, Erdoğan stated that the construction of 300,000 housing units in the earthquake-affected region has begun. To date, 76,000 homes have been delivered to earthquake survivors, with plans to hand over 200,000 more units to rightful owners by the end of the year. The President stressed that efforts are being made with all available resources to make earthquake-affected areas stronger and more magnificent than before.

Erdoğan also mentioned initiatives to encourage residents living in risky structures to renovate their buildings, reaffirming the commitment to making all cities better prepared for any type of disaster.
