President Erdoğan Hosts Estonian President Alar Karis in Ankara, Discusses Bilateral Relations and Global Issues

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Estonian President Alar Karis and his delegation in Ankara. The visit, marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Turkey, highlighted the potential to expand cooperation in various areas.

During the meeting, it was noted that the bilateral trade volume had reached $429 million, with the potential for further increase through mutual investments. Erdoğan expressed his belief that existing cooperation in the defense industry, as two NATO allies, could be further developed through concrete projects.

President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of diversifying relations and investing in future cooperation across a broad spectrum from science and technology to education, culture, and tourism. He conveyed his confidence that close bilateral relations and solidarity within NATO would continue to strengthen on solid foundations.

The discussions also covered developments related to the war in Ukraine. Erdoğan emphasized the urgency of ending the destruction in Ukraine and achieving a fair and lasting resolution through diplomacy. He mentioned ongoing efforts to promote this approach.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza was also addressed. Erdoğan expressed his belief that those responsible for the barbarity in Gaza would be held accountable under international law, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid. He assured that Turkey would continue to do its utmost in this regard.

President Erdoğan thanked President Karis and his delegation for their visit, wishing that the meetings would be beneficial for both countries.
