President Erdoğan Highlights Significance of Albaraka Islamic Finance Summit for Economy and Sector
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that the Albaraka Islamic Finance Summit would be a significant event contributing to the country’s economy and the sector. While extending his gratitude to the organizing institutions and participants, Erdoğan highlighted that more than 1,500 guests from 75 different countries were welcomed in Turkey.
Erdoğan remarked that the summit brings together esteemed figures, investors, executives, and experts, and expressed his belief that the event would accelerate the growth of the Islamic finance and participation sector in Turkey. He said the two-day summit would feature important discussions in panels covering various topics such as the historical development of the Islamic economy, ethical principles, Islamic investment instruments, and sustainable growth.
He also noted Turkey’s historical role as a bridge between the East and the West, implying its evolving role in connecting financial markets. Recalling the opening of the Istanbul Finance Center last year, Erdoğan described it as a symbol of these efforts and asserted that Istanbul holds great potential in the fields of finance and Islamic finance, which is also acknowledged by international investors.
Erdoğan concluded by stating that the Albaraka Summit would support efforts to elevate Istanbul’s position as a regional financial center to a global level. He expressed his hopes for the summit held under the theme “Global Insights into Islamic Economy: Fundamental Building Blocks and Needs” to be successful and beneficial for the sector.
