President Erdoğan Announces Significant Economic Growth Amidst Ongoing National Efforts
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan revealed that they are engaged in intensive efforts across various domains, from foreign policy to the economy, counter-terrorism, and recovery from the February 6 earthquakes. Highlighting economic progress, Erdoğan stated that Turkey’s economy experienced a 5.7% growth in the first quarter of 2024, marking continuous growth for 15 consecutive quarters.
Erdoğan emphasized that the share of workers in this growth was 42% in the first quarter, the highest since 1998. Predicting a decline in inflation starting from the second half of the year, he noted that almost all recent data aligns with the Medium Term Program.
Addressing issues of exorbitant prices and profiteering which have exacerbated the cost of living, Erdoğan discussed new regulations that strengthen the government’s hand in tackling these problems. He assured that necessary steps are also being taken on other issues troubling the public. Erdoğan concluded by affirming their commitment to being the voice of the silent majority and addressing accumulated national issues, rather than catering to influential elites.
