President Erdoğan Announces Positive Outcomes of Transportation Investments

In a recent address, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the positive outcomes of the nation’s transportation investments with the public. Following the extension of the Bayram holiday to nine days, millions of citizens traveled to their hometowns and vacation spots. Erdoğan reported that the number of intercity bus trips had reached 108,000, facilitating the reunion of 3,782,000 people with their loved ones. Additionally, he stated that nearly 7.52 million people traveled by railways, and over 21 million vehicles used highways during this period.

Highlighting the usage of the Eurasia Tunnel, Erdoğan noted that 94,454 vehicles passed through on the final day of Bayram. He emphasized that new records had been set at international airports in Istanbul, Antalya, and other locations. Furthermore, Erdoğan pointed out the similar success witnessed in projects like the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the Orhangazi Bridge.

Addressing critics who question the necessity of such investments, Erdoğan remarked, “The nation will not eat roads,” and affirmed that they would continue to weave the country with railways, roads, highways, viaducts, bridges, tunnels, overpasses, and underpasses. This announcement underscores Erdoğan’s commitment to enhancing Turkey’s transportation infrastructure and highlights the benefits these investments bring to the country.
