Online Symposium: Building a Strong Turkish Diaspora in the “Century of Türkiye”
The “1st International Turkish Diaspora Symposium” took place online as part of the “Century of Türkiye” initiative, featuring representatives from various public institutions, academics, and civil society organizations. The symposium discussed the main objectives of Turkish diaspora policies and upcoming projects.
Main Goals of the Diaspora
Turkey’s diaspora policy primarily aims to help Turks living abroad preserve their cultural identity, maintain their ties with their homeland, and advocate for their rights while integrating into the socio-economic life of their respective countries. These objectives are also highlighted in the 12th Development Plan.
Support Programs
The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities offers various forms of support to meet the needs of Turks living abroad, including language education, fostering a sense of national consciousness, and helping them strengthen their positions in their host countries. These programs are seen as crucial for enhancing Turkey’s international representation.
Combating Islamophobia and Turkophobia
The symposium also highlighted the “Declaration to Combat Islamophobia and Turkophobia,” emphasizing that it will strengthen the bonds among Turkish and Muslim communities.
Expressions of Gratitude
Thanks were extended to Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities for their efforts in organizing the symposium. Appreciation was also expressed to all participants from around the world for their contributions to the principle of “Building a Strong Turkish Diaspora in the Century of Türkiye.”
