Newly Established Internal Security Faculty to Admit First Students in 2024-2025 Academic Year
The Internal Security Faculty, established under the Police Academy, is set to welcome its first students in the 2024-2025 academic year. Deputy President of the Police Academy, Associate Professor Dr. Ufuk Ayhan, announced that this new faculty will start accepting students from high school graduates this academic period.

Graduates to Receive Commissioner Deputy Certification and Bachelor’s Degree

Ayhan emphasized that unlike previous years, with the introduction of the Internal Security Faculty, there will now be three sources for training commissioner deputies. He detailed that previously, civilian faculty graduates and bachelor’s degree-holding police officers were trained as commissioner deputies through a 2-year program at the Police Commissioners Training Center. Now, high school graduates will also be trained as commissioner deputies through the Internal Security Faculty.

Ayhan highlighted that the faculty will provide a new approach to training commissioner deputies. Graduates will receive the initial supervisor certification in addition to a bachelor’s degree in an academic discipline. The faculty will encompass eight departments, including political science and public administration, international relations, forensic sciences, psychology, sociology, law, security management, and applied courses.

Ayhan noted the presence of numerous expert teaching staff within the police services class. The academy also includes 130 civilian teaching staff members, including 15 professors, 13 associate professors, 25 assistant professors, 41 lecturers, and 36 research assistants.

Students who successfully complete preparatory training will take common courses in the first two years and will continue their education in an academic discipline starting from the second year.

Application Requirements

Ayhan explained the admission requirements for the faculty, stating: “Minimum criteria for application scores in verbal, quantitative, and equally weighted categories were established. The minimum application score is 350 for verbal, 310 for equally weighted, and 330 for quantitative. The pre-application process will conclude on July 29. Applicants will be selected based on the highest to the lowest scores, and these candidates will be announced within two days.”

Ayhan emphasized the extensive facilities of the Internal Security Faculty, mentioning sport complexes, lecture halls, libraries, classrooms, social areas, cafeterias, and even a mini-bank branch, offering a multifaceted lifestyle for students.

He reaffirmed that the faculty provides a comprehensive education process with academic and sports facilities and invited all young candidates, stating, “Our campus, with its educational opportunities, social living areas, and sports fields, is like a small town, and I invite all young people to join us.”

200 Students to be Admitted This Year

The Internal Security Faculty, aimed at training future police commissioners, will admit 160 male and 40 female students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students will receive free boarding and formal uniformed education. Their food, accommodation, healthcare expenses, and other allowances will be covered by the state, and a stipend will be provided as per the law.

Students who successfully complete a one-year foreign language course followed by four years of undergraduate education will be appointed as Commissioner Deputies to the General Directorate of Security.
