Mobile Migration Point Initiative in Tekirdağ Continues to Identify Illegal Immigrants

By Haberyaz Aug13,2024

The “Mobile Migration Point” initiative, which promptly conducts identity checks on foreigners suspected of being irregular immigrants across Tekirdağ, serves a different district each day.

In this context, Tekirdağ Governor Recep Soytürk visited the Mobile Migration Point Vehicle operating at Atatürk Square in the Çorlu district and received information from officials about the ongoing efforts. During the visit, the Mobile Migration Point personnel conducted fingerprint checks on the foreigners.

Governor Soytürk was accompanied by Çorlu District Governor Murat Eren, Süleymanpaşa District Governor Mustafa Güler, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Ahmet Çetin, Acting Provincial Police Chief Murat Tabak, and Coast Guard Station Commander Captain Can Çakıcı.

Under this initiative to combat irregular migration, security forces check the identities of individuals suspected of being irregular immigrants. Foreigners who cannot present their identities are invited to vehicles called Mobile Migration Points, where personnel from the Directorate General of Migration Management conduct biometric fingerprint checks. Foreigners found without a legal right to stay are subjected to deportation procedures and sent to deportation centers.

The two mobile migration vehicles serving throughout Tekirdağ have conducted identity checks on approximately 3,500 foreign nationals over the course of about 8 months.
