Ministry of Family and Social Services Partners with OSTIM Organized Industrial Zone for Job-Guaranteed Training Program for Women and Female Students

The Ministry of Family and Social Services and OSTIM Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) have signed a collaboration protocol for a Job-Guaranteed Theoretical and Practical Training Program aimed at women and female students.

The signing ceremony at the Ministry was attended by Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Leman Yenigün, OSTIM OSB Chairman of the Board Orhan Aydın, General Director of the Status of Women Süreyya Erkan, and ministry officials.

In her speech, Yenigün highlighted that achieving economic growth and sustainable development goals is only possible through women’s efforts to create added value in all areas of life. She noted that Turkey has made enduring regulations over the past 20 years with the aim of fostering strong women, families, and society.

Yenigün stated that the measures and incentives taken have led to positive developments in women’s employment. She noted that in the future, efforts in female entrepreneurship will continue to develop production and trade marked by women’s touch.

Emphasizing the ministry’s launch of the website “kadingirisimci.gov.tr” to enhance women’s entrepreneurial skills and capacities, Yenigün said, “In addition to all these efforts, our ministry, in cooperation with the private sector, is supporting female students who wish to become engineers in all areas through the ‘Turkey’s Female Engineers Project.’ This project has been ongoing since 2016. Under the university program of the project, we have supported a total of 931 female students studying in engineering faculties.”

“Opportunity for Employment”

Discussing the collaboration protocol signed between the Ministry and OSTIM Organized Industrial Zone, Yenigün said that it aims to contribute to increasing the employment of women and female students by developing their vocational qualifications.

“With this protocol, we will create a ‘Job-Guaranteed Vocational Theoretical and Practical Training Program’ for women. Participants who successfully complete the training program will be entitled to receive an accredited certificate and will gain employment opportunities. Female students studying in the final years of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields will be given the opportunity to visit and intern at firms operating in the OSTIM Industrial Zone. With the signing of this protocol, I hope that the ‘technical working group’ will be formed quickly and the activities to be carried out within this framework will be implemented.”

OSTIM OSB Chairman of the Board Aydın also wished for the protocol to be beneficial and noted that they have many initiatives in their ecosystem concerning women’s participation in employment.

Aydın stated, “We are doing our utmost to bring women to the forefront in employment and entrepreneurship. We always try to prioritize women; more than 50% of our employees are women.”

Following the speeches, Yenigün and Aydın signed the collaboration protocol.
