Minister Murat Kurum Vows Determination in Climate Crisis and Environmental Protection Efforts
Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum asserted his commitment to protecting Turkey’s natural resources and combating climate change during a pivotal meeting held at the Ministry. Kurum emphasized the importance of leaving a better future for the younger generation, saying, “We are determined to protect the air, water, and soil of our beautiful country. We will continue to implement our climate crisis and adaptation policies. We will work tirelessly for ‘Climate-Friendly, Environmentally Respectful Cities’ and our ‘2053 Net Zero Emission Goals’.”
Minister Kurum convened with deputy ministers and general directors at the Ministry’s Environment and Climate Meeting. Topics discussed included the Zero Waste Initiative spearheaded by First Lady Emine Erdoğan, climate change, the Deposit Management System, environmental inspections in marine areas, greenhouse gas emission reduction, international climate negotiations, protected areas, green transformation, bicycle lanes, micromobility applications, ecological corridors, and the latest developments in national gardens.
In his statement regarding the meeting, Minister Kurum reiterated the Ministry’s commitment, stating, “Together with my Ministry team, we conducted the Environment and Climate Meeting. We are determined to protect the air, water, and soil of our beautiful country. We will continue to implement our climate crisis and adaptation policies. We will leave a beautiful future for our children, the guarantors of our future. We will work tirelessly for our ‘Climate-Friendly, Environmentally Respectful Cities’ and ‘2053 Net Zero Emission Goals’.”
