Minister Murat Kurum Continues Post-Earthquake Efforts in Adıyaman

Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum continues his intensive work efforts in the earthquake-stricken region, focusing on Adıyaman. During his visit to Adıyaman Governorship, Minister Kurum highlighted ongoing construction and rehabilitation activities since the earthquake of February 6, 2023. He stated, “With the support of our Governorship, Municipality, NGOs, and citizens, we have made significant progress in healing the wounds of our earthquake-affected brothers and providing them with new homes. We will continue to revive Adıyaman, which was affected by the disaster of the century, in all aspects. By 2025, we aim to restore Adıyaman’s historic and social structures, bringing back its former vibrancy.”

Minister Kurum had previously visited other affected areas, including Malatya, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay last week, and today he arrived in Adıyaman, one of the most impacted provinces by the earthquake. During his visit to Adıyaman Governorship, he met with Governor Osman Varol, Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, as well as parliamentarians, district mayors, and ministry bureaucrats at the Disaster Coordination Meeting. In the meeting, Kurum received updates on the city’s construction and rehabilitation efforts, as well as on the demands and needs of the residents.

“We Will Revive Adıyaman in Every Aspect”

Emphasizing unity and solidarity during the meeting, Minister Kurum said, “With the support of our Governorship, Municipality, NGOs, and citizens, we have made significant progress in healing the wounds of our earthquake-affected brothers and providing them with new homes. We will continue to revive Adıyaman, which was affected by the disaster of the century, in all aspects.”

“Our Duty is to Complete the Necessary Works Promptly”

Minister Murat Kurum noted that since February 6, 2023, construction and rehabilitation efforts have been ongoing in the earthquake-hit region. “We have delivered 4,500 housing units in the city center and started the construction of 39,500 housing units in rural areas. Our duty is to complete these works promptly and address any remaining issues. We will revive Adıyaman’s historic and social structures, and by 2025, we aim to restore its former vibrancy,” he said.
