Minister Ali Yerlikaya Announces Traffic Inspection Results: Over 2 Million Vehicles Inspected in a Week

Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, announced that from July 18 to 25, 2024, a total of 2,464,204 vehicles were inspected by the law enforcement’s traffic teams. The announcement was made through his social media account, where he provided detailed information on the results of the traffic operations.

During the inspections, 259 drivers were fined for using unauthorized sound or light warning devices (commonly known as “flashing lights” or “chakars”).

Minister Yerlikaya also shared additional results:

– 118,349 drivers were penalized for speeding violations.

– 24,796 vehicles did not have their periodic inspections completed.

– 19,246 occupants were not wearing seat belts.

– 14,703 vehicles were driven by individuals without a valid driver’s license.

– 9,391 vehicles were found to be without mandatory liability insurance.

In total, 423,069 vehicles/drivers faced various penalties.

Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules, refraining from speeding, and consistently wearing seat belts. “Journeys are meant to reunite you with loved ones, not separate you from them. Life cannot be raced,” he stated.

The tweet included further details:
