İYİ Parti Leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu Commemorates Madımak Massacre’s 31st Anniversary

İYİ Parti Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made a statement on the anniversary of the Madımak Massacre, which occurred on July 2, 1993, in Sivas. Dervişoğlu emphasized that the incident not only led to the burning of a hotel but also caused a deep emotional impact on people’s consciences.

“The smoke that rose did not just suffocate humanity; it also wounded compassion and conscience. The real target attacked at Madımak was our Republic itself,” Dervişoğlu remarked. He commemorated those who lost their lives 31 years ago with respect and condemned the mentality that perpetrated the massacre.

In his statement, Dervişoğlu stressed the need to abandon political rhetoric that fuels ethnic, religious, sectarian, or class tensions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. He urged politicians to learn from history and avoid repeating past mistakes.
