Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu Emphasizes Maritime Independence on Cabotage Day
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu made significant statements on the occasion of Cabotage Day. İmamoğlu highlighted that Turkey’s maritime independence is safeguarded by the Cabotage Law.
In his message celebrating Cabotage Day, Mayor İmamoğlu stated, “Our independence in our seas carries immense importance for the future of our country. Cabotage symbolizes this independence. We must protect our seas and independence with utmost care.”
İmamoğlu’s remarks underscored the importance of self-sufficiency and independence in Turkey’s maritime sector. The Cabotage Law, which came into effect in 1926, regulates the right for Turkish-flagged ships to carry cargo and passengers between Turkish ports.
