Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Outlines Strides Against Irregular Migration and Smuggling

Turkey’s Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, has declared a firm stance against irregular migration and human trafficking, emphasizing the country’s 24/7 commitment to addressing these challenges.

Yerlikaya assured, “We have not and will not tolerate any irregularities. We have not and will not allow provocateurs to undermine our efforts.”

In alignment with Turkey’s national interests, he highlighted the ongoing fight against migration while respecting human rights, law, and civilizational values, vowing continuous dedication.

Over the past week, under the “KALKAN-25” operations targeting human trafficking organizers and irregular migrants, a total of 100 operations were executed. These efforts resulted in the capture of 149 traffickers, among whom 42 were arrested, and 21 are under judicial control, while others are still being processed.

Additionally, 2,563 irregular migrants were detained. These individuals have been handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, and deportation procedures have commenced.

Minister Yerlikaya reaffirmed the unwavering resolve to ensure the safety and security of the nation, stating, “We are always on the tail of human trafficking organizers for the tranquility and security of our country.”
