Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Issues Final Day Kurban Bayram Traffic Warning
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya took to social media to issue an important traffic advisory on the final day of the Kurban Bayram holiday. He highlighted the heavy traffic on the highways and the ongoing efforts of Traffic Police and Gendarmerie units.

“Today is the last day of the Kurban Bayram holiday. Our highways are experiencing heavy traffic. Traffic Police and Gendarmerie are conducting 24-hour speed and radar checks without interruption. We are reiterating our warnings:

– Do not speed.

– Always wear seat belts in both cars and buses.

– Follow traffic rules.

On the eighth day of the holiday, June 22, 2024, 706 traffic accidents occurred in a 24-hour period. Unfortunately, 6 people lost their lives, and 1,097 were injured. Inspections were conducted on 405,088 vehicles. Speed and radar checks were applied to 22,975 vehicles, and other checks were conducted on 37,590 vehicles.

Over the first 8 days of the holiday (Saturday to the following Saturday), unfortunately, 68 people lost their lives and 9,787 were injured.

My condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Minister Yerlikaya stressed that traffic enforcement will continue to ensure the safety of all road users.
