Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya: Intensive Traffic Inspections Throughout the Holiday

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that police and gendarmerie traffic teams continued their inspections 24/7 during the holiday break.

On the 7th day of the Kurban Bayram holiday, June 21, 2024, Friday, Minister Yerlikaya shared crucial information regarding traffic accidents:

– 597 traffic accidents occurred.

– Unfortunately, 13 people lost their lives.

– 1,007 people were injured.

– 406,165 vehicles were inspected.

– Speed and radar checks were applied to 21,129 vehicles.

– Other traffic procedures were carried out on 39,021 vehicles.

Minister Yerlikaya summed up the first seven days of the holiday (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) with the following statistics:

– 62 people died.

– 8,690 people were injured.

Minister Yerlikaya expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He issued stern warnings to citizens to prevent traffic accidents, urging them not to speed, to always wear seat belts in cars and buses, and to strictly adhere to traffic rules.

Minister Yerlikaya’s message:

“To ensure your journey to your loved ones does not end in an accident, please follow traffic rules, do not speed, and always wear your seat belt. Remember, journeys are meant to bring you closer to your loved ones, not separate you from them. LET THE END OF THE ROAD BE A FESTIVAL.”

On the 7th day of the holiday, June 21, 2024, Friday:
