Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Highlights Continuous Traffic Inspections, Over 2.5 Million Vehicles Checked

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that traffic inspections are being carried out continuously. Between July 25 and August 1, 2024, traffic units from the Police and Gendarmerie inspected a total of 2,526,729 vehicles.

Minister Ali Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of these inspections for ensuring road safety, stating, “Please strictly adhere to traffic rules and avoid speeding. Do not neglect to wear your seat belt. Travels are meant to reunite you with your loved ones, not to separate you from them.”

During the inspections, the following violations and actions were recorded:

– 246 drivers were penalized for using unauthorized flashing and siren devices.
– 120,218 drivers were fined for speeding.
– 24,968 vehicles were found to be without mandatory periodic inspections.
– 18,319 drivers were caught not wearing seat belts.
– 15,088 vehicles were being driven without a valid driver’s license.
– 9,691 vehicles lacked mandatory liability insurance.

In total, actions were taken against 434,129 vehicles and drivers during this inspection period.

Minister Yerlikaya also issued a stern warning to citizens, urging them to drive safely and comply with traffic regulations. He highlighted the dangers of speeding and not wearing seat belts, stressing that adhering to traffic rules is crucial for the safety of both drivers and other road users.

Between July 25 and August 1, 2024, our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Units inspected 2,526,729 vehicles.
