Inflation Expectations Aligning with Targets, Says Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek

Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that inflation expectations are converging with their targets. According to Minister Şimşek’s statement, the year-end inflation expectation has dropped to 43%, the 12-month expectation to 30%, and the 24-month expectation to 19.3%.

Since the announcement of the Medium-Term Program (MTP), the 12-month and 24-month inflation expectations have continuously declined, Şimşek noted. Despite the current rise in annual inflation, the improvement in expectations indicates confidence in the success of their disinflation policies, he added.

Minister Şimşek highlighted that in July, an increase in monthly inflation due to temporary factors is expected, while a significant decline in annual inflation is anticipated. He emphasized that the disinflation process will become more prominent in the coming months.
