Germany’s Embassy Announces Important Development: Dual Citizenship Rights Simplified
Germany and Turkey have made it easier to hold dual citizenship. According to an announcement from the German Embassy, starting June 27, 2024, German citizens will be able to obtain Turkish citizenship without needing prior permission.
This new regulation allows German citizens to gain Turkish citizenship without losing their German nationality. Similarly, individuals who switch from Turkish to German citizenship will retain their existing Turkish citizenship.
This significant development provides crucial flexibility regarding citizenship rights between the two countries and represents a substantial convenience for citizens of Turkish descent living in Germany.
