Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek Denies Tax Exemption Claims for Syrian Refugees
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has refuted claims made on a television program alleging that Syrian refugees are exempt from taxes, including VAT and property tax.
Speaking on the issue, Minister Şimşek clarified that Syrian refugees under Turkey’s temporary protection are not granted any tax exemptions or privileges. He emphasized that regular tax audits are conducted by the relevant departments to ensure compliance.
Şimşek warned the public against believing unfounded claims aimed at manipulating public opinion, noting that such misinformation can lead to misunderstandings and unrest within society.
