Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek Announces National Vehicle Recognition System for Digital Fuel Monitoring in 2025
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has announced that the National Vehicle Recognition System, set to be implemented at the start of 2025, will enable digital monitoring of fuel consumption. The system will be mandatory for commercial vehicles and optional for personal vehicles. The initiative aims to prevent tax losses at fuel stations and reduce unregistered activities.
In his statement, Mehmet Şimşek said, “Our goal is to reduce unregistered activities without increasing the general tax rates and to further strengthen our fiscal discipline alongside expenditure reductions.” He also noted that efforts to enhance fairness and efficiency in taxation would continue.
This new initiative was announced to the public by the Ministry of Finance.
