Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek Announces Drop in US Dollar Bond Yield Below 7% for the First Time Since November 2021
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that the yield on the 10-year US Dollar benchmark bond has dropped below 7% for the first time since November 2021.
Şimşek emphasized that the program they have been implementing with determination has strengthened macro-financial stability and reduced risk premiums. He noted that as a result of these developments, the costs of external borrowing have significantly decreased.
Highlighting that this improvement in costs also positively impacts the private sector’s external financing, Şimşek stated that they would make the gains permanent by taking structural steps in the upcoming period, further improving the risk premium.
