Çukurova International Airport Officially Inaugurated by Turkish President Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has officially inaugurated the Çukurova International Airport, a major infrastructure project that is expected to significantly benefit the region’s transportation and economy. During the opening ceremony, Erdoğan highlighted that the new airport will primarily serve the provinces of Mersin and Adana, extending its services to a broader area.

The project was completed through a public-private partnership without spending any state funds. With a total investment of €608.5 million, it is projected to generate €297.1 million in rental income for the state over the next 25 years.

The Çukurova Airport is poised to make substantial contributions to the region’s trade, tourism, agricultural production, and overall economy. It is expected to create direct and indirect employment for approximately 3,000 people. In addition to Mersin and Adana, the airport will also serve the provinces of Osmaniye and Niğde, providing travel convenience to over 5 million people.

The project’s transportation infrastructure is noteworthy. A 15.9-kilometer divided road, featuring 8 single bridges and 2 double bridges, has been constructed to ensure comfortable and safe access to the airport. This is expected to result in annual savings of 578 million Turkish lira.

Plans are underway to integrate the airport with the Mersin-Adana-Gaziantep High-Speed Rail Line. Passengers will be able to reach the airport in just 23 minutes by boarding the high-speed train from either Adana or Mersin. The airport is also anticipated to boost the region’s exports.

President Erdoğan congratulated those who contributed to the realization of this significant project and wished citizens safe and trouble-free travels.
