CHP’s Burhanettin Bulut Condemns Rising Threats and Attacks on Journalists

By Haberyaz Jun14,2024

CHP Deputy Chairman in Charge of Public Relations and Media Relations, Burhanettin Bulut, who is also an Adana MP, has criticized the recent increase in threats and attacks against journalists. Bulut highlighted the case of Sinan Ateş, who was murdered in broad daylight in Ankara, as well as other journalists who have faced physical attacks. He stressed that such threats and targeting are becoming increasingly prevalent.

Bulut also noted that the exile policies applied to some judges and prosecutors appear to be aimed at interfering with legal processes. He suggested that the intent of these actions is to intimidate, suppress, and cover up certain crimes. “Your threats mean nothing to us. The truth will come out, and the murderers, their collaborators, and the real instigators will be held accountable. Justice will be served for the righteous and the oppressed, not for those who threaten and shout to cover their crimes,” Bulut stated.

Bulut’s remarks have brought the issue of journalists’ safety and press freedom back into the spotlight, emphasizing the need for authorities to act more sensitively and fairly on these matters.
