CHP Women’s Branch President Visits Family of Gezi Park Defendant

CHP Women’s Branch President, Aylin Nazlıaka, visited Şükran Atalay and Mustafa Atalay, the parents of Can Atalay, who is a defendant in the Gezi Park case and was stripped of his parliamentary immunity. During the visit, Nazlıaka was photographed with the flower Can Atalay gifted to his mother on Mother’s Day.

In her statement during the visit, Nazlıaka condemned the Constitutional Court’s ruling that dismissed Can Atalay’s parliamentary immunity, despite two previous verdicts recognizing a violation of rights. She described this decision as a constitutional violation. Emphasizing the importance of solidarity in these challenging times when justice is being suspended and the Constitutional Court’s decisions are being ignored, Nazlıaka stated, “We will establish the rule of law instead of the rule of the powerful. Gezi is our honor. This unlawfulness must end, and the Gezi prisoners must be released. We are not hopeless; justice will eventually prevail.”

The visit and statements highlighted the emphasis on the rule of law and solidarity towards the Gezi Park case.
