Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi Leader Özgür Özel Calls for Turkey’s Re-adoption of Istanbul Convention
Özgür Özel, the leader of the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi (CHP), has issued a call for Turkey to re-adopt the Istanbul Convention. Emphasizing the importance of the state standing firmly behind women, Özel demanded that the government take on its full responsibility.
Addressing the prevention of femicides, Özel criticized the government, stating, “We must place the state firmly behind women.” He called for a strong collective effort to tackle this issue and bring an end to these murders.
Continuing his remarks, Özel pointed out the inadequacies in protecting women and highlighted the need for more active government involvement. He stressed the significance of standing by women with the statement, “Let’s end these murders together!”
