CHP Leader Özgür Özel Criticizes Shortfall in Promised Housing for Earthquake Survivors
On (Date), Özgür Özel, the leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), voiced concerns regarding the government’s failure to meet its housing commitments for earthquake survivors. Speaking at a press conference, Özel highlighted that, despite promises of 650,000 housing units within a year, only 101,000 units have been delivered within the stipulated timeframe. With 20 months having passed, the target falls significantly short.
Moreover, he emphasized that 85% of the earthquake survivors in Hatay are still living in tents, containers, or are forcibly displaced. Özel assured that these harsh realities will not be forgotten and called for urgent action to meet the needs of the affected people.
