CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel made a statement in memory of the tragic events that took place at Sivas Madımak Hotel in 1993. However, the main focus of the announcement was the words of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Özel emphasized his determination by giving a clear date for the opening of the Madımak Shame Museum. “Whether it takes one year or three years, I don’t know, but I swear that at the latest, on 2nd July, four years from now, not a day later, we will be here for the opening of the Madımak Shame Museum, and we will inaugurate it together,” he said.

This statement was evaluated as a representation of CHP’s emphasis on the Madımak Hotel events and their belief in the importance of not forgetting such tragedies. Özgür Özel’s determination was interpreted as a sign of his party’s sensitivity towards justice and confronting the past.

The significance of the event and the planned museum, which carries the meaning of not forgetting painful incidents in history, underscore the seriousness of CHP’s steps in this matter.
