Özgür Özel, the Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), has made significant statements regarding developments in Syria. Özel highlighted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has issued a general amnesty, presenting an opportunity for refugees to return to Syria.
“The world needs to take action now and step up,” Özel stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. “However, there’s no visible movement on this issue in Turkey,” he added.
Özel also addressed ongoing efforts related to refugees in Turkey, criticizing the government for merely extending residence permits and issuing work permits to refugees. He stressed that this situation should be evaluated in conjunction with the developments in Syria.
