CHP Deputy Leader Criticizes AKP Government’s Intolerance to Criticism
Deniz Yücel, Deputy Leader and Spokesperson for the Republican People’s Party (CHP), has criticized the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) for its intolerance towards criticism. In his statement, Yücel asserted, “In the recent history of our country, many words within the bounds of criticism have been punished simply because they upset the AKP.”
Yücel accused the AKP of perceiving every opposition as a threat to its power and trying to label dissenters as agents, saying, “Now they are attempting to brand everyone who opposes them as spies.” He argued that such an attitude damages the country’s democratic structure and restricts freedom of expression.
Yücel’s remarks were made during a press meeting held at the party headquarters. During the press conference, the AKP’s past actions were described as efforts to silence the opposition.
