CHP Chairman Özgür Özel Criticizes Pension Increases as Ineffective

CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel has stated that recent increases in pension payments are not real improvements. He pointed out that six months ago, the lowest pension was 10,000 Turkish lira, which could buy 25 kilograms of ground beef at the time. Despite the so-called increases today, the same amount of money can now only buy 20 kilograms of ground beef.

Özel argued that these increases do not actually enhance the purchasing power of retirees. Instead, he claimed that retirees have effectively lost the equivalent of 5 kilograms of ground beef compared to six months ago. Criticizing the situation with the words “Shame on them!”, Özel contended that the government does not adequately prioritize the living standards of retirees.
