Building Collapse in Istanbul’s Bahçelievler: Babacan Urges Government and Opposition to Take Action
A building in Istanbul’s Bahçelievler district collapsed without any natural disaster triggering the incident. Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Deva Party Chairman Ali Babacan pointed out that buildings in Istanbul are now collapsing even without earthquakes, which serves as a serious warning. Babacan stated, “Istanbul is warning us. Istanbul is telling us to ‘take precautions.'”
Babacan called on both the government and opposition to act urgently, saying, “Let’s come together – government, opposition, public, and civil society – to fight against the threat of earthquakes without wasting time.”
He reiterated that the often-asked question, “Why wasn’t necessary action taken in time?” should not be asked this time around and emphasized the need for immediate action.
