Ali Babacan Criticizes Turkey’s Inflation Rates, Comparing Them to Global Figures

By Haberyaz Jun13,2024

Ali Babacan, the Chairman of the Deva Party, has sparked a significant debate by highlighting Turkey’s inflation rates. Babacan argued that the constant rise in inflation over the past year is not solely due to global factors but specific to Turkey.

Babacan pointed out that war-torn Ukraine has an inflation rate of 3.5%, Russia 7.8%, and Israel 2.8%, emphasizing that Turkey’s inflation rate of 75% is substantially higher in comparison. He additionally noted that the monthly inflation increase in Turkey surpasses the annual inflation rates of 91 countries worldwide.

These statements once again bring Babacan’s criticisms of economic policies and the severity of Turkey’s economic situation to the forefront.
