Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler welcomed Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu and Air Force personnel on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of the Turkish Air Force. Deputy Minister Bilal Durdalı was also in attendance.
In his speech during the meeting, Minister Güler highlighted the history and significance of the Air Force, saying, “Our Turkish Air Force began its glorious journey in 1911 with the first aviators sent for pilot training and the establishment of the Aviation Commission, shortly after the first powered aircraft took to the skies.”
Güler emphasized that due to the tremendous efforts of the Air Force, it now stands among the most powerful, distinguished, and respected air forces in the world. He also noted the Air Force’s continued intensive activities at a time when Turkey plays significant roles on the international stage. “Today, Turkey is among the few nations that can train its own pilots as well as the pilots of allied countries,” he said.
The Minister also touched upon indigenous and national defense industry projects such as “HÜRKUŞ,” “HÜRJET,” “GÖKBEY,” and the fifth-generation indigenous fighter jet “KAAN,” describing them as concrete indicators of Turkey’s significant advancements in aerial platforms. “Turkey has become one of the few countries in the world capable of producing its own combat and training aircraft and helicopters,” he noted.
Emphasizing the importance of equipping the Air Force with the most modern weapons, tools, and equipment, Minister Güler stated, “The current chaotic security environment and ongoing crises make it essential for us to maintain a strong, effective, and deterrent air force in order to protect our nation’s rights and interests without compromise.”
Lastly, Minister Güler expressed his confidence in the Air Force personnel, saying, “We love and trust you immensely. I firmly believe that our Air Force, the pride of our nation, will achieve great successes in line with our vision for the Turkish Century.”
